Under XP the start entry must be adapted in the file boot.ini on c:\. An example line is the following:

multi (0) disk (0) rdisk (0) partition (1) \WINDOWS = ”Microsoft Windows XP Professional 3 GB”/3GB

The change is the counter/3GB. Then after the next new start are available to all programmes which can handle with it, up to 3 GB of address space. Attention: The file boot.ini is provided with a writing protection.
