Moskito offers different possibilities to show own grid data in plans.

The possibility to be used depends on the deliberate representation and of the quality of the present grid data. In all cases will be given provided that the grid data as TIFF files.

If it concerns a grid which should be freely positioned (e.g., company logos in a sheet frame), then the function AddRasterFile is used: The function asks the path, the format (at the moment always TIF) and two points in the plan from about which the grid picture is inserted (see also help in the functional reference).

This variation is not suited for situation-exact fitting of aerial pictures or maps in the grid format.

Should grids be situation-properly shown, is used – according to data quality - one of the following methods:

In the easy case a suitable TWF file, so a TIFF-Worldfile which describes the co-ordinates and the size of the covered area already exists to a TIF file. In this case the grid is able Extras | Grid | Anew... situation-exactly are read in if the controlling box „automatic positioning“ is activated. The TIFF-Worldfile must be to be found in addition in the same list like the TIFF file.

If the data are given in such a way, that the grid file

a) achsparallel is to the desired co-ordinate system,

b) in X and Y direction with the same resolution is given and

c) without annoying edge areas (e.g., frame or legends) was scanned,

then is able to do the grid file about the menu Extras|Raster|Neu are read in. Besides, becomes a transformation file with the ending .tra generated and as with TIFF-Worldfiles for the automatic positioning used.

In all other cases, in particular with the selfscanned maps which do not fulfil the abovementioned conditions, or if

- several grids should be summarised,

- after colour planes separate grids should be shown or

- from grid data a certain area should be cut out,

then both functions "Raster einmessen" and „grid will count“ used. With Einmessen if a position is assigned to every single TIFF file (an affine transformation is also possible Here, i.e. the source file may also be at an angle and with different length width relation.) and in a text file stored, with Grids count if any area is cut out of this mosaic. "Raster einmessen" corresponds to the function MakeRasterConfigFile, „Grids count“ of the function TiffMakeRasterDB.
