Arrangement of the data springs ODBC

All accesses to data banks occur about the ODBC drivers. In addition data springs ODBC must be furnished. There is this in 3 variations, namely as

UserDSN

SystemDSN

FileDSN.

UserDSN and SystemDSN hardly differ. Both describe the data spring only on grounds of her name. The information which data bank stands behind the spring or Whether it concerns an Access data bank or an Oracle data bank is hidden in the settings to this name. While UserDSN is ready only for the user who has furnished the data spring, a SystemDSN is available to all users on this calculator. Neither UserDSN, nor SystemDSN can be network-far furnished. The information about a SystemDSN or a UserDSN is stored in the Registry.

FileDSN is a data spring with which the information is stored in a file. Accordingly the file name must be given while appealing the data spring. Otherwise the qualities are identical with their one SystemDSN. With it arise compared with a SystemDSN the following differences:

SystemDSN

FileDSN

Information of the name reaches

The entire file name must be given

Only on a calculator valid

Can be network-far confessed

So that with the access to a FileDSN the full name cannot always must be given the alias parametre are given if the data spring is connected. Then the data spring is known under the alias name which not must contain the file name, but may be shorter.
