For which does one need the data model?

In the data model rules are defined for the structure in Moskito G SHARP to administered graphic and attributive data. Here it is determined, for example of which elements with which graphic stamping the objects exist and in which order the objects should be drawn. Also it can be fixed that with certain objects certain functions or order expiries are tied together.

The data model is a schematic effigy of the construction of the objects in the real world. G SHARP about a row of single orders can be built up by Moskito and then is used by some Moskito's functions (e.g., selection after object type, new drawing, production of new objects and elements under the rules of the data model, object check, etc.).

Among the rest, in the data model are defined:

Names of object classes

Name of objects

Qualities of the objects (key, variations)

Name of elements (graphic object components, e.g., symbols, string, surfaces, grids...)

Qualities of the elements (text kind, sign key, symbolic key, sign priority, etc.)

Rules for the object composition (e.g., "object exists of 1 or 2 symbols with the symbolic number 333" or "object exists of exactly one string and a symbol")

Object functions (e.g., "left double click with the mouse opens with the object with the key 333 the dialogue window xxx" or "with right mouse key on object 333 activated in the Popup menu the entry yyy")

Object hierarchy

Representation rules (e.g., visibility with different graduations)

Information to the attributes of an object (Permissible number, contents, etc.)

The most comfortable and clearest way to provide a data model for Moskito G SHARP and to maintain is to use the model generator. The model generator is a component the Moskito'S G SHARP full version. He exists of an almost empty Access data bank (ModellGlobal.mdb) and an other Access data bank with masks for editing (ModellEdit.mdb) in a version for Access 97, Access in 2000 and Access in 2002.

To the model data bank an ODBC data spring linking must be built up at operating system level (under Windows NT 4.0, for example, under Start|Einstellungen|Systemsteuerung|ODBC-Datenquellen, under Windows 2000 in the system control under Verwaltuen | Data springs (ODBC)). A data spring ODBC can be also furnished about a so-called Datei-DSN (or File-DSN). In this case one is with the use of the data spring ODBC independent of the calculator or the registration. Afterwards G SHARP ""can be provided in Moskito under "Verwalten|Datenbank" the linking to this data spring ODBC and afterwards under "Verwalten|Tabellen|Datenmodell load" are loaded.

The linking with data springs ODBC can be also regulated in own Batches. The suitable Moskito's order is "SQLconnect".
